  1. Apologize – “I’m sorry”
  2. Say what you’re specifically apologizing for
  3. Acknowledge the impact on the other
  4. Say what you’ll do differently next time

Hold People Accountable

If your team member made a mistake, here's how to hold them accountable:

  1. Restate expectations
  2. Clarify where improvement is needed
  3. Together, create a plan to get there
  4. Explain what will happen if this conversation doesn’t work (next steps)
